BACKGROUND Introduce your business and what you do there. I’m the founder and president of Air Fresh Marketing, a full-service experiential agency that focuses on physical marketing across the US and Canada. OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE What challenge were you trying to address with Lemonlight? We needed more digital content—specifically, videos—for a lot of activations across the US. We’re not on-site at our client’s activations, so we wanted high-quality videos that capture what we do at our company and what we can do for other companies. SOLUTION What was the scope of their involvement? We’ve worked together for about two and a half years and made 12–15 videos in that period. For our usual process, we set up their on-site contact and meeting place and they go and capture the footage. They have a network of people across the country so they can activate people wherever. From that point, it’s normally two weeks for them to turnaround the first version. They handle all the editing and production tasks. For our most recent project, they captured footage of people we’d hired handing out our client’s product to participants at the finish line of a race. They focused on the brand we were promoting and the good they do. We made one or two edits to their first version, and then they finalized the video. What is the team composition? We worked with two videographers on our most recent project, but there was also our account manager. They act as our point of contact and we use them over different projects. How did you come to work with Lemonlight? We found them through our founder organizations. I got to know one of their founders and built a relationship with them. How much have you invested with them? We work together on a project-by-project basis. We spent $5,000 on our most recent project. What is the status of this engagement? We first started working with them two and a half years ago. We reached out to them with this most recent effort at the beginning of June 2019, and they delivered the final video in the middle of July. RESULTS & FEEDBACK What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? I thought the race video was well done. We haven’t pushed it out yet, but I’m very happy with them. How did Lemonlight perform from a project management standpoint? They have a great process, which makes them easy to work with. With a quick turnaround and easy booking system, I’m very pleased. My project manager handles all the communication so I never talk to the videographers. We’ve developed a streamlined template over the years that’s really freed me up to do other things. What did you find most impressive about them? What I really like is they’re simple to work with. A lot of video companies out there have really high minimums. We don’t need huge production since we’re more mobile, so they’re pricing is very reasonable. We’re not doing TV commercials, more of case studies, websites, and internet outreach tools. They’re very nimble and easy to work with. I highly recommend them to anybody. Are there any areas they could improve? Not now, no. When we first started the relationship, our process was a bit different. Over the years we’ve dialed it in so I’m not involved as much and they’re handling the creativity. This streamlined a lot of the activities. They’re also developing a portal that will replace a lot of the emails we have to send each other. Do you have any advice for potential customers? Understand what you’re looking for before jumping in and figure out what your goals are. This will help you in working with them to build something.
