Disappointed with TrendsBiz Marketplace Theme – Proceed with Caution

I want to share my experience to help others make an informed decision. While the theme is free, it comes with numerous unresolved UI and functionality issues—many of which seem to be intentionally left unaddressed by the developers. Upon implementing the theme, I encountered multiple problems clearly rooted in the original code—ranging from layout inconsistencies to broken UI elements. I reported these issues to the TrendsBiz team several times. Initially, they quoted $100 to resolve them, and I agreed to pay $80. However, instead of fixing the core issues in the main theme, they created a child theme to bypass the problem. This caused further complications, as custom UI implementations and footer sections disappeared, leaving my site in a broken state. When I provided the full list of issues (as initially communicated I would), they later asked for an additional $200, even though the problems were entirely related to existing bugs and standard functionality—not custom development. To date, many of these bugs remain unresolved, and I’ve come to the conclusion that the theme was intentionally released with these issues to push users toward paid fixes. This approach, in my view, borders on exploitative practices. I’m still temporarily using the theme as I develop a custom one in-house, but I strongly urge others to test this theme thoroughly before using it. What appears to be a free solution may end up costing you far more in terms of time, effort, and additional expenses. Final Verdict: Use at your own risk. Lack of Support

The theme works fine for what it is, but the lack of support is making me think about choosing a different theme.

It was somewhat simple to customize the theme as-is, but any adjustments for what information displays on pages and on the blog pages/posts could only be made using a child theme, which is more work than it should be

Updating the branding information was easy to do and formatting/styling content and layouts were also east to accomplish

The biggest disadvantage is the support. I have sent in several tickets with question and issues that have popped, but I haven't heard back from anyone at all. It's quite frustrating when it says support is provided, but you go to the support site and the only option is to submit a ticket and, even though there is a link to a knowledgebase, there aren't any articles in it. When the description of the theme says "Easy-to-Read Documentation" and "Free Premium Support" and it has neither, that's not great. If I knew it didn't have those two items (especially support - which says they respond within 15 minutes to 8 hours), I would not have chosen this theme. This theme has a range of great and versatile modules that are easy to customise! I got stuck on a couple of things and contacted support who were incredibly helpful and got back to me with the solution.

The theme's settings and drag-and-drop sections are easy to customise and offer plenty of options.
