The compliance risk
The UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) issues fines under PECR for unsolicited marketing calls to phone numbers on the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and Corporate TPS (CTPS) registers. Penalties run into hundreds of thousands of pounds per breach. Sales and outbound teams need to screen every phone number before it gets dialled, and that screening has to be current, on the record, and auditable.
The status quo doesn't work for most teams
Manual spreadsheet checks miss new register additions. Generic phone-validation tools don't understand the UK regulatory regime. Current solutions only run overnight batches and writes a single combined status to each record. None of that fits a fast-moving sales team that imports leads at 9am and starts dialling at 9:15.
What TPSClear does inside HubSpot
TPSClear is a UK TPS and CTPS compliance app for HubSpot contacts and companies. The moment a phone number changes on a record, TPSClear screens it against the live Telephone Preference Service and Corporate TPS registers and writes the result to a status property on the record. The verdict is one of Clean, TPS-listed, CTPS-listed, or Unknown (not screened). That property is a normal HubSpot field, so you can filter lists, branch workflows, gate sequence enrolment, and report on it like any other.
Real-time, not overnight batches
TPSClear subscribes to HubSpot's contact and company webhooks. When sales or RevOps edits a number, when a form submission lands, or when an integration writes to the phone field, the verdict updates within seconds. A daily backfill sweep also runs at a time you pick (you choose the UTC hour in settings) and catches everything imported or bulk-edited outside the real-time path. There is no "wait until tomorrow morning to know if you can call this lead."
One status property per phone field
Real HubSpot portals carry more than one phone number per record (phone, mobilephone, fax, hs_additional_phones, custom properties for direct lines or work numbers). TPSClear maps each phone property to its own status property so you can tell at a glance which number is safe and which is not. You configure the mappings on the TPSClear settings page; defaults are seeded on install.
DMA-licensed audit trail
TPSClear operates under the DMA's TPSL list-cleaner programme, the route the ICO recognises as evidence of due diligence under PECR. The timestamped audit trail TPSClear produces on each record is the evidence to point at if you ever have to demonstrate you screened a number before calling it.
